Marie Tharp produced the first comprehensive maps of the ocean floors, discovered a giant crack in the earth at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, and helped prove the theory of continental drift. But her name was pretty well lost until Hali Felt published Soundings, the story of Tharp’s life. Soundings comes out in paperback tomorrow, and Hali came on the LQ podcast to share more about this remarkable woman.
